Whether you are holding these notes in your hands or viewing them on a screen, they are the first produced in collaboration with the University of Illinois Press. Details of this initiative are contained in the front matter of the previous Bulletin issue. So now that my goals of securing financial stability and nudging this publication into the digital age are achieved, there could be no better time to step aside as editor after an eventful 10-year run. Editorial responsibilities are already under the stewardship of Eve Harwood who took over as interim editor on July 1, 2011.
Individual messages expressing my gratitude for their dedicated service and support were sent to members of the Bulletin Advisory Committee. In return, I received an outpouring of supportive and congratulatory responses from them. Thank all of you again; I will treasure your well wishes.
Part of the current changing scene is also to acknowledge the contributions of departing members of the Advisory Committee: Mark Campbell, Colleen Conway, Anne Lowe, and Deb Sheldon. I am especially grateful to Deb for igniting the spark during her editorship that eventually led to revitalizing the Bulletin.
I dusted off my "to-do" list neglected over the past 10 years and already launched into projects that will hopefully bring the same personal and professional satisfaction as editing this publication for you.
